How to achieve your goals through routine.

How to achieve your goals through routine.

We often feel the need to change certain things in our everyday life in order to feel healthier, fitter and more vital. We often try to change this through daily activities such as regular exercise, healthier food, wellness, reading, etc. Additionally we seek for more time for ourselves to find peace and serenity.

Unfortunately, we expect too much from ourselves too quickly, so that frustration and giving up are almost inevitable.

It is therefore easier if you initially prioritize something that you would like to learn or change, take it on specifically and concentrate on it. Here is an example: You would like to do sports every day. Just the word “daily” exerts pressure, so it is better to make up your mind that you would like to move “more regularly”. Then you can think about how you would like to implement this and draw up a plan. Be careful not to overwhelm yourself, but also not to underchallenge yourself. Here is an idea:

Monday: 30 min home workout

Tuesday: walk for 1 hour

Wednesday: go for a run

Thursday: 1 hour bike tour

Friday: 30 min home workout

Saturday: go for a run

Sunday: walk for 1 hour

Sport is just one example. You can apply the same model to other things such as eating, wellness, keeping a diary, learning a language, spending time with friends and family etc. It is important here that you have a plan in mind of what you want and how you want to achieve it. Because if you can't visualize it, it will be difficult to implement and to be successful.

Even if you are not steadily consistent, it is important that you keep going and not give up. If you take even small steps, you are still taking them in the right direction. At some point there comes a time where your constant implementation becomes a habit and brings you to your goal. Realize that the journey is the goal.
