3 tips for healthier social media behavior:

You may know it, you are looking for something specific on your phone and then drift off on social media. After a short time you don't know what you originally wanted to look up, because you spent several minutes on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.

This doesn't just happen once a day, but several times and each time you waste valuable life time that would have been used for more important things. Then you get annoyed with yourself and this cycle repeats itself again and again ...

Exactly this situation will repeat itself until you make it clear to yourself, change something and practice dealing with it more consciously. Here are three tips for a healthier social media behavior:

  1. Tipp:

Put your phone on airplane mode for about 30-45 minutes when studying, working, or doing something that requires your full concentration.

This allows you to concentrate fully on one thing for a short time, be highly efficient and not be distracted by your mobile phone. Ultimately, this is how you achieve your best possible result.

  1. Tipp:

Turn off all notifications for your social media including WhatsApp and Co.

This way you can make sure that you are not constantly looking at your cell phone / laptop and getting distracted. This means that you are more present in everyday life and are more aware of what is happening around you. If you then use the apps consciously, you can concentrate fully on them and look forward to your little break from everyday life.

  1. Tipp:

Set yourself reminders with time limits.

When scrolling on the phone you don't notice how fast the time goes by. You quickly already spent 30 minutes in bed in the morning on an app such as Instagram and you´re not even aware of it. Every big app now has the function of giving you a reminder of how long you've been on the app. This reminder function can be adjusted individually. Therefore e.g. set yourself a time limit in each application that does not exceed a total of one hour a day. In this way you have the chance to control yourself and your screen time better.
